Oxytetracycline, Diclofenac Sodium
Oxytetracycline belongs to the broad-spectrum tetracycline family and is derived from the fermentation products of Streptomyces rimosus. It acts by inhibiting protein synthesis within bacterial cells and is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Diplococcus pneumoniae, and Escherichia coli. It is also active against Chlamydia, Rickettsia, and spirochetes.
Oxytetracycline binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, preventing the attachment of tRNA and halting the addition of amino acids to the growing protein chain. This mechanism inhibits bacterial growth and multiplication. Although effective against a wide range of pathogens, its efficacy may vary depending on bacterial susceptibility and drug concentration at the site of infection. Bacterial sensitivity testing is recommended whenever possible.
Diclofenac sodium is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), non-narcotic, with analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and anti-endotoxic properties.
This product is intended for veterinary use only.
Indications :
Used in cattle, sheep, and goats for the treatment of respiratory, urinary, gastrointestinal, and reproductive tract infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to oxytetracycline. It is also indicated as an anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and analgesic agent.
It is active against Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Rickettsia, as well as some pathogenic protozoa and fungi.
Dosage and Administration :
Administer by deep intramuscular injection at a dose of 1 ml per 10 kg of body weight.
Do not inject more than 15 ml at one injection site. If the required dose exceeds 15 ml, divide it between multiple injection sites.
Precautions :
- Do not administer intravenously.
- Do not use concurrently with penicillin compounds, calcium or iron salts, or antacids, as these may form insoluble complexes and reduce efficacy.
- If another injectable drug is used, administer it at a different injection site.
- Avoid diluting the solution.
- Do not use in horses, donkeys, dogs, or cats.
- Do not use in animals producing milk intended for human consumption.
- Do not use in animals suffering from renal, hepatic, or vascular insufficiency.
- Do not use in pregnant animals.
- Wash hands after use and avoid contact with eyes.
- Use the product within 4 weeks after first puncturing the vial.
Side Effects :
- Mild systemic toxicity may occur.
- Transient weakness related to tetracycline has occasionally been observed in debilitated animals.
- Use during tooth development in late pregnancy may cause discoloration of teeth.
- Mild inflammation or necrosis may occur at the injection site.
- Some cases of photosensitivity dermatitis may be observed.
