Dexamethasone sodium phosphate is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid used for its anti-inflammatory, anti-shock, antiallergic, gluconeogenic, and immunosuppressive properties. It also has the ability to penetrate the central nervous system.
Dexamethasone is used alone to control cerebral edema and, in combination with tobramycin, for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive inflammatory eye conditions.
Indications :
Shock and circulatory collapse
Fog fever
Acute mastitis and burns
Ketosis in cattle
Hypersensitivity reactions
Dexacor is also indicated for the relief of inflammation and is prescribed for conditions such as arthritis, laminitis, dermatitis, and other inflammatory disorders.
Dosage and Administration :
Administer by intramuscular, intravenous, subcutaneous, or intra-articular injection:
Cattle, Camels, Horses, Sheep, Goats, and Pigs: 1 ml per 25–100 kg body weight.
Dogs: 0.5 ml per 5–20 kg body weight.
Cats: 0.25 ml per 1.5–5 kg body weight.
For intra-articular administration:
Large animals: 1–5 ml
Small animals: 0.25–2.5 ml
The dose may be repeated if necessary at 24–48 hour intervals, for a maximum of five days.
