Gentadima – 10% is an effective antibiotic for treating severe bacterial infections in various livestock and pets, ensuring rapid action against resistant strains while adhering to safety and withdrawal guidelines.

Composition:

Each 100 ml contains:

Gentamycin sulfate         10      gr

Excipients q.s.                  100    ml

 

Pharmacology:

Gentamycin is an antibiotic belongs to the Aminoglycosides group. It has a bactericidal effect on Gram-Positive and Gram-Negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas  Aeruginosa, klebsiella, Serratia, escherichia coli, مقلبات,  Salmonella and Staphylococci.

Gentamycin might be effective against bacteria resistant to other Aminoglycosides.

Highest concentration in blood serum is reach 30- 60 minutes after Intramuscular injection.

Gentamycin in excreted mainly by the kidney.

 

Indications:

Gentadima – 10% is used in the treatment of Septicemia( Blood infections), respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, Genitourinary tract infections caused by Gram-Positive or Gram-Negative bacteria and bacteria sensitive to Gentamycin such as Pseudomonas  Aeruginosa, مقلبات, Klebsiella, intestinal bacteria, and strains of staphylococci and used in treating escherichia coli infections not responding to regular medical treatment.

 

Contra-Indications:

Animals with previous cases of hypersensitivity to Gentamycin.

Side effects:

Renal toxicity and ototoxicity in cases of long-term treatment or in cases of high doses.

In rare cases: Neuromuscular blockade, muscle weakness, respiratory depression.

 

Drug Interactions:

Gentamycin toxic effects increase when given with other aminoglycosides,  bactericidal antibiotics, general narcotics and neuromuscular blockers.

 

Warnings:

Avoid using Gentamycin in cases of renal impairment and serious infections.

Stop the treatment with the product and start symptomatic treatment in the case of neuromuscular blockade, start introducing calcium salts intravenously.

 

Target Animals: Cattle, Camels, Horses, Sheep, Goats, Pigs, Dogs and cats.

 

Dosage and administration:  via intramuscular, Intravenous or subcutaneous injection:

1 ml per 10 Kg body weight (during day one of treatment it is suitable to administer two doses at an interval of 12 hours). Then treatment is proceeded daily until healing.

Withdrawal Period:

Milk: 3 days

Meat 30 days
